The United States donated military equipment to the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan
CentralAsia (TJ) – The United States has donated military equipment to the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan to strengthen the country’s law enforcement infrastructure on the border with Afghanistan. This was reported by Asia Plus with reference to the press service of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety of Tajikistan.
“Technical assistance was provided as part of the Green Border Security Project, which aims to strengthen the Tajik law enforcement infrastructure along the border with Afghanistan,” the statement said.
The department noted that on behalf of the US Department of Energy, overalls, bulletproof vests, equipment for conducting operations in mountainous areas, special protective uniforms for demining, night vision devices, binoculars, monoculars, radio stations, military vehicles, as well as special vehicles in which equipment for detecting illegal traffic of nuclear and radioactive materials.
It is noted that the director of the Agency for Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Safety, Ilkhom Mirsaidzoda, as a national coordinator, handed over military supplies for use by the SCNS on behalf of the US Department of Energy.
The equipment is necessary for the implementation of Tajikistan’s national action plan on UN Security Council Resolution 1540 on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the agency said.
