SOCAR will build an enterprise producing chemical products, oil and gas equipment in Uzbekistan’s Kashgadarya province, Azernews reports.

The relevant plan was discussed during the business trip of Uzbekneftgaz JSC to SOCAR’s Oil and Gas Research Project Institute.

During the visit, the members of the business group of Uzbekneftgaz got acquainted with the activities of the testing laboratories accredited on the basis of the international certificate for drilling and tamponade solutions.

According to the information of Uzbekneftgaz, the enterprises are equipped with modern equipment, while the Institute of Oil Research Project is planning to build a similar enterprise in SOCAR Uzbekistan within the framework of a joint project.

In addition, the companies will also consider providing services for developing well workover equipment, as well as warehousing and distribution of components for drilling and tamping fluids widely used in field development and drilling operations.

Based on the results of the negotiations, the issues related to the next stages of the implementation of the project on the creation of scientific infrastructure will be agreed upon.

President Emomali Rahmon spoke on December 1 at the plenary session of the twenty-eighth Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in Dubai, his press service reports.

According to him, water-related natural disasters annually cause great financial and material damage to our country, and in some cases lead to loss of life.

“Tajikistan annually faces floods, landslides, avalanches and other water-related disasters. Pursuing the goal of reducing the negative impact of climate change on the social and economic spheres of the country, the Government of Tajikistan is implementing the National Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change for the period until 2030.” – he said at the summit.

He reminded the participants that Tajikistan’s share in greenhouse gas emissions is small, and the republic ranks 130th in terms of the low volume of such emissions. That is, thanks to the small amount of this waste, Tajikistan occupies a leading position in the world.

Emomali Rahmon emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan is one of the leading countries in the world in terms of the percentage of “green energy” production.

“Tajikistan produces 98 percent of its electricity from hydroelectric power plants and ranks sixth in the world in terms of the percentage of green energy generated from renewable sources,” he noted. “Our country continues to increase its achievements in this area and intends to double its green energy production capacity in the future “as the main basis for promoting the green economy.”

For these purposes, according to the president, the government of Tajikistan has adopted and is implementing the “Green Economy Development Strategy for 2023-2037,” which is aimed at the efficient use of natural resources and attracting “green” investments and technologies.

He drew the attention of those present to the obvious truth: climate change, first of all, negatively affects sources of water resources. In this context, it was emphasized that the depletion of water resources due to the rapid melting of glaciers is one of the negative indicators of climate change.

As a clear indicator of this process, he mentioned the complete melting of one thousand glaciers over the past decades out of 13 thousand glaciers in Tajikistan, which are the source of 60 percent of the water resources of our region.

In his speech, the Tajik President also focused on our country’s latest initiative aimed at protecting water sources. “At the initiative of Tajikistan, a resolution of the UN General Assembly was adopted to declare 2025 the International Year of Glacier Conservation and March 21 as World Glacier Day, and the International Trust Fund for the Conservation of Glaciers was created,” he noted. The President announced Tajikistan’s decision to make its initial financial contribution to this trust fund. He is convinced that the world community and international organizations will also contribute to the Fund.

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 26. The Chinese Dongfeng Special Car Company intends to implement a project for the production of electric buses worth $100 million in Uzbekistan’s Fergana region, Trend reports.

The news followed a recent working visit by the Uzbek delegation headed by Khairulla Bozorov to China, where meetings were held with the representatives of 29 Chinese companies. As a result of the meetings, the parties signed 32 documents, including 29 investment agreements and trade agreements worth $1.37 billion.

As per the agreement with the Chinese Dongfeng Special Car Company, the company will implement a project for the production of electric buses in Furkat district of Fergana region. The annual production capacity is estimated to amount to 1,000 units.

Earlier this month, Uzbekistan and China signed a memorandum on the implementation of priority grant projects in Uzbekistan. The signed document provides for the implementation of 14 projects totaling over $190 million in sectors such as agriculture and water management, healthcare, education, and institutional development.

Tajikistan—a nation heavily dependent on crude oil imports—is looking to develop its green hydrogen industry, with a goal of producing 1 million tons of hydrogen by 2040, the country’s Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma told Reuters on Monday.

Tajikistan plans to have 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

Tajikistan currently generates almost all of its electricity with hydropower and imports almost all of its crude oil from Russia.

Its interim goal is to have 500,000 tons of green hydrogen capacity by 2030, before it’s doubled by 2040, “thanks to affordable competitive electric power,” Juma said. And 75% of that green hydrogen is set to be exported to other Central Asian countries that are currently using fossil fuels.

Tajikistan is looking to diversify its power sources away from hydropower, hoping to have at least 10% of its electricity come from other sources—like solar and wind—by 2030.

Hydrogen, an abundant element found in water, natural gas, and other organic compounds, can be used as a fuel source or as an energy carrier in applications such as transportation, heating, and electricity generation. Green hydrogen is produced through electrolysis, which involves splitting water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen using electricity from renewable sources such as solar or wind power. The resulting hydrogen gas is then compressed and stored for use as a clean energy source. Unlike traditional hydrogen production methods, which rely on fossil fuels like coal or natural gas, green hydrogen production emits no greenhouse gases and has zero carbon footprint—it also hopes to solve the intermittency issues with renewables like solar and wind.
