AKIPRESS.COM – A delegation from the Czech Republic led by Minister of Industry and Trade Jozef Síkela visited Uzbekistan, UzA reported.

A meeting was held with Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov. The guests took part in the 9th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic. An Uzbekistan – Czech Business Forum was held as well.

It was noted that relations between Uzbekistan and the Czech Republic are developing from year to year. The parties considered the further expansion of mutually beneficial partnerships, the full use of the potential, the implementation of promising projects, and the intensification of contacts.

Almost 50 joint ventures with the participation of Czech capital operate in Uzbekistan. The trade turnover has increased 2.6 times since the beginning of the year. Economic and investment relations have been especially strengthened in recent years. The trade turnover amounted to $184.8 million in 2022, including $30.5 million of exports and $154.2 million of imports.

“Such events will strengthen bilateral relations further and bring trade and economic partnership to a new level. Great efforts are now being made in Central Asia to develop the economy and improve the region’s position in the world through the effective use of national resources. We consider Uzbekistan one of the most reliable partners. We exchanged views on investment, sustainable development, and mutually beneficial cooperation at the meeting,” Jozef Síkela noted.

Detailed information was provided about the opportunities created in Uzbekistan, natural resources, large-scale reforms in the banking and financial sector, and insurance during the forum.

B2B meetings were held with the participation of representatives of the business circles of the two countries. The experience of Czech companies in doing business in Uzbekistan was presented. The participants discussed issues of creating new joint ventures and developing investment projects.
