AKIPRESS.COM – The project of construction of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is under activation stage, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The technical and economic assessments were completed by July 2023. The assessments confirmed technical feasibility and economic effectiveness of construction of the railway, the Ministry of Transport said.

Trilateral meeting was held at level of experts on September 21. The model of financing and management of the project was discussed at the meeting.

The Ministry of Transport reminded a trilateral memorandum of understanding was signed on the sidelines of China-Central Asia Summit on May 18-19 betyween the National Development and Reform Commission of China, Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kyrgyzstan, Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan on achieving mutual understanding on trilateral joint technical and economic assessment of construction of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway (the section of the railway on the territory of Kyrgyzstan).

The construction of the tunnel is being handled by the Iranian company Farab Group. 

Iran-based news agency IRNA reported on Sunday that the construction of the Istoqlol tunnel, linking the Tajik capital to the country’s second-largest city, Khujand, is nearing completion, noting that the finalization of the project is scheduled to be held before the 32nd anniversary of Independence Day of Tajikistan. 

The construction of the tunnel, which is also named the Anzob Tunnel or Ushtur Tunnel, is being handled by the Iranian company Farab Group. 

Farab had previously collaborated with another Iranian company named Saber International on the project.

The tunnel is situated at a distance of 80 km northwest of Dushanbe, Tajikistan’s capital city. 

The Tajik Ministry of Transport said that the construction of the tunnel would be completed before Independence Day which is celebrated every year on September 9 since 1991, the year Tajikistan declared its independence from the former Soviet Union. 

The ministry said that the construction of the tunnel was initially projected to be completed in November 2022. However, due to financial reasons, the completion date had to be rescheduled.

The plan for the manufacturing of products and services in the construction and industrial sector of Turkmenistan was exceeded by 9.2 percent from January through March 2023, trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Baymyrat Annamamedov at a government meeting held on April 15.

According to him, during the reporting period, the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan exceeded the work plan by 11.5 percent, and the Ashgabat city municipality exceeded the work and services provided by 13.1 percent compared to the first quarter of last year.

Furthermore, Annamamedov noted that the Ministry of Industry and Construction Production of Turkmenistan exceeded the plan for the production and implementation of works by 20.7 percent during the reporting period, and the State Agency for Roads Construction Management by 12.5 percent.

At the meeting, the results of the government’s work in the economic sphere for 3 months of 2023 were summed up, draft documents were considered and priority tasks of the socio-economic development of the country were discussed.
