In Tajikistan, academic Pulat Babajanov died.

Today, at the age of 93, the famous Soviet and Tajik astrophysicist, academician Pulat Babadzhanov died. This was reported by the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.

He is the author of 18 inventions, he owns more than three hundred scientific papers, many of which are widely known in the world.

The world-class discoveries made by scientists still serve for the benefit of mankind to this day.

In 1998, the International Astronomical Union named one of the minor planets under No. 7164 the name “Babadzhanov”.

Today there are 10 such minor planets named after Tajikistan and Tajiks.

One of them – “Kokhirova” is named after the best student of P. B. Babadzhanov – astrophysicist Gulchekhra Kokhirova.

Until recently, Pulat Babajanov was in charge of the Department of Interplanetary Bodies of the Institute of Astrophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and, despite his advanced age, continued research, penetrating deeper and deeper into the secrets of small bodies of the solar system.
