Tajikistan in 2022 was visited by 999.3 thousand foreign tourists. This was announced by the Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Tourism of the Republic Kamoliddin Muminzoda, reports today, February 10, IA “Sputnik Tajikistan”.
“This is 3.4 times more than in 2021. Thus, the republic was visited by 703 thousand tourists more than in the same period last year,” – said the head of the Committee.
According to him, 242 travel companies operate in the country today. And the share of the tourism industry in the republic’s GDP was 2.8%.
“Currently, 4 investment projects are being implemented in Tajikistan for a total amount of more than $43.8 million. This allows us to improve and update the tourism infrastructure,” Muminzoda said further.
He also noted that 100 tourist facilities were built and put into operation in the country during the year. Over the past 5 years, the number of such objects has increased by 600.
